Societal Noise

Noise in society is a truly topical problem. New sources of sound pop up daily around us. In spite of the exertions of manufacturers to make quieter machines and vehicles, growth entails that we are constantly exposed to higher levels of sound. Also, people in our modern society are more aware of the risks of noise and place greater demands on society to attain a satisfactory sound environment.

Work in counteracting noise must begin early, already in key plans and detail plans, in order to provide society with sustainable development. There is otherwise a great risk that more people in densely populated areas suffer from increased stress and ill health related to noise.

In Sweden, an estimated 1.5 million people are disturbed by noise related to road traffic. Noise from railroads and air traffic is normally limited to housing that is geographically near to the sound source. It is estimated that over 2 million people in Sweden are exposed to equivalent noise levels of over 50 dB(A).

ACAD handles projects involving, among other things, road traffic noise, railroad noise, airplane noise, noise from industries, motor sport courses, shooting ranges, construction sites and vibration disturbance.
